Google Chrome's New 'For Your Desktop' Apps Run Outside the Chrome Browser

As Google Chrome turned 5, Google has introduced a new section of chrome apps for Windows. At present, these apps are for Windows only, later they release for Mac and Linux.

These set of apps will run without the help of chrome browser, that means we can work offline also. Security is always the main priority and these apps uses chrome built-in security features. Updates are automatically done.

Do Other Chrome Apps Run Directly from Desktop?

No. Only the section 'For Your Desktop' in Chrome Store can be used for offline work from desktop as they are developed for desktop. So, other than these app, all can be used as previously i.e. runs through chrome browser.
